OUR LEGACY
Rooted in Tradition, Defined by Resilience
Jackson Hereford Farms traces its beginnings back to the 1890s, when Frank Jackson partnered with Gil Burleigh and brought pedigreed Hereford cattle west of the Mississippi, laying the foundation for one of the oldest registered Hereford herds in the United States.
For more than 130 years, this family-operated farm in Mechanicsville, Iowa has passed through five generations—each committed to breeding quality cattle with sound structure, strong performance, and honest business practices.
A Legacy in Breeding
From early breeding choices like Anxiety II and IV, Prince Domino, Prospector, and Line One to embracing performance data and advanced genetics, the Jacksons have always blended innovation with tradition. Their cattle have made a mark both in the pasture and the show ring, and recognition in Hereford World highlights their enduring role in the breed’s history.
Our Program Today
Jackson Hereford Farms continues to advance its breeding program through the use of embryo transfer and artificial insemination, allowing us to build on proven genetics while improving performance and consistency. With a strong focus on polled genetics, we offer quality Hereford bulls, replacement heifers, and select show heifers and steers for breeders and exhibitors alike.
